December Update
I am excited to share with you how God has been working in my life. This month has been focused on celebrating the birth of Jesus and really pulling my strength from God.
Keeping my eyes on Jesus
It's easy to get caught up in the Christmas whirlwind of shopping, decorating, and all things Christmasy. Sometimes I find myself thinking more about the season rather than the reason for the season. When that happens I have to remind myself that I wouldn't be celebrating Christmas if it wasn't for the life, death, and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It's such a beautiful opportunity to come together as a community and really appreciate what His birth means to humanity.
A time of community
Quality time is my love language. I love spending time getting to know people on a deeper level and being in the presence of the people that I love. This season has been filled with opportunities to grow in deeper friendships. We have had so many different fun events from Christmas decorating, cookie making (& eating), family game time, gingerbread competitions, and weekly movie nights. It has definitely been fun-filled. We have also had some especially great times of worship together really honoring Jesus' birth.
Worry less, pray more
Since becoming the leader of the hospitality ministry my tendencies towards perfectionism and workaholism have resurfaced. There are times when all I can think about is what needs to be done and how to do it well that I forget about the relational aspect of my ministry. I've even started dreaming about all the things I need to do and haven't done yet. This morning the Lord gave me the verse Philippians 4:6-7. It was a great reminder to pray more and cast all my worries on Him for He is my strength, my rock, and my peace.
'Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. '
Philippians 4:6-7
